Thorneside is a coastal suburb located east of Brisbane, the capital of the Australian state of Queensland, and is part of the Redland City local government area.

The locality is named after the railway station, originally named Thorne’s siding after William Thorne who bought a lot of land around Thorneside when it was originally subdivided in 1913. At that time the land was known as Thorne’s estate.
Now, nestled away between Wellington Point and Tingalpa creek on Waterloo Bay, Thorneside retains a village atmosphere. Long foreshore parks provide recreational outlets for all the family, with barbecues, playgrounds and walking and cycling paths.

Pockets of significant koala habitat and sporting fields add to the charm of bayside Thorneside.
